Coupling traffic models on networks and urban dispersion models for simulating sustainable mobility strategies

چکیده
The aim of the present paper is to investigate the viability of simplified “almost-realtime” traffic models for modeling and testing different traffic scenarios, in order to define the impact on air quality of different strategies for the reduction of traffic emissions. To this aim, we complement a well assessed traffic model on networks with a strategy for estimating data needed from the model and we couple it with the urban dispersion model Sirane.

[Article] Coupling traffic models on networks and urban dispersion models for simulating sustainable mobility strategies
The aim of the present paper is to investigate the viability of macroscopic traffic models for modeling and testing different traffic scenarios, in order to define the impact on air quality of different strategies for the reduction of traffic emissions. To this aim, we complement a well assessed traffic model on networks [13] with a strategy for estimating data needed from the model and we coup...
متن کاملRealistic Simulation of Urban Mesh Networks - Part I: Urban Mobility
It is a truism that simulations of mobile wireless networks (e.g., MANETs) are not realistic. There has been little effort in developing realistic mobility models and while propagation is well understood, it is rarely applied. In urban areas, the mobility of vehicles and pedestrians is greatly influenced by the environment (e.g., the location of buildings) as well as by interaction with other n...
متن کاملEvaluation of urban traffic plan scenarios in terms of traffic noise abatement
Urban traffic plans (UTPs) are tactical planning tools for managing urban areas and traffic noise abatement is one of their objectives, explicitly provided for under Italian law. To date, the various models and methods for estimating traffic noise have concerned its estimation in a point (or on a road segment). In this paper we propose a method that is able to evaluate the effects of UTPs on no...
متن کاملPlanning Level Regression Models for Prediction of the Number of Crashes on Urban Arterials in Bangladesh
In most of the developing countries, the metropolitan organizations do not assess the safety consequences of alternative transportation systems and one of the reasons is the lack of suitable methodology. The goal of this paper is to develop practical tools for assessing safety consequences of arterial roads in the context of long-term urban transportation plans in Dhaka city, the capital of Ban...
متن کاملUrban Mobility Models for VANETs
Mobility models, or the movement patterns of nodes communicating wirelessly, play a vital role in the simulation-based evaluation of Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs). Although recent research has developed models that better correspond to real world mobility, we still have a limited understanding of the level of the required level of mobility details for modeling and simulating VANETs. In thi...
